A thank you & my cabinet reveal part 2

Happy Friday everyone! It is a glorious, warm, sunny day in my neck of the woods.  Sorry I've been slacking on posting this week.  We've had several nice days in a row & I have been enjoying them while I can!

I recently won a giveaway over at Ellie's Country Accents & my package came today.  I was so very excited to receive my gift (I won Miss Witch) but I wanted to wait till Cody got home from school today till I opened it so he could share in my excitement.  When we opened up the box we found Miss Witch ( I love her ~ she's super cute!) & a couple of surprise gifts too!

Ms. Ellie sent Cody a Halloween goody bag with an adorable Halloween cat & some candy! He was so excited!! She also included a very yummy smelling candle & a super cute Halloween candle mat.
~Miss Witch~
(ignore my wallpaper in the background -its on my "to-un-do" list!)
~my new candle mat (my only one) ~ LOVE it!

~Mr. Cody is a ham (he gets that from his father~lol) so I had to take a picture of him with each part of his gift! lol The poor chocolate covered marshmallow in the last picture didn't last but like 2 seconds! He said it was very good tho!~

Thank you again Ellie ~ I love everything & so does Cody. Thank you for including him in your kindness ~ you made his day & mine.
If you haven't checked out Ellie's blog, please stop over & say hi :

I also wanted to show you guys my finished kitchen cabinet.  I ended up just using the tea stained muslin & losing the pleats.  I really like how it turned out.  Now I'm thinking the other cabinet in my kitchen needs painted! lol

I painted & stained several redos this morning then left them out in the sun to dry, so I will have those to share with you next time.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.  I'm looking forward to spending some lazy time with my guys.

Redos, Cupboard Update & A First

Good morning!  Hope every one's Friday is going great! Mine is alright ~ nothing too exciting going on around here right now.  It's another cold & rainy day.

I thought I'd share a few things I've been working on with you.

Here are a few makeovers:

before (was a previous makeover)

I'm still trying to finish up my cabinet.  It used to have red plaid in the top door panels but I wanted to try something different so I got some muslin to put in the panels instead.  One side is pleated & one side is not.  I'm not sure I like either side.  The hubby says it's too bright.  I think I may have to keep looking for some fabric.  What do you think?

 before

after (so far)

Does either side look ok? The unpleated one is just barely on that's why it's kinda wavy ~ it would be smooth if I leave it.  Do you think the muslin is too white?  I'm not sure what I think so any input would be appreciated. :O)  I'd love some tin punch panels but that's not in the budget!

Oh ~ I almost forgot! I started my first punch needle yesterday!!!  WAY back when,  Rhonda from Simple Thyme Prims had sent me a kit, a how to book, & a pattern to try out.  Well I finally remembered to get some thread yesterday & I think I'm going to really like doing it!  Of course I need LOTS of practice. I had only bought 2 colors because I forgot my pattern at home, so I didn't get too far.

Here's what I did ~ promise me you won't point & laugh! lol

Hope you have a good day!

Happy Friday!!

Happy Friday everyone!

It's a cold, dreary, rainy day here but that's not going to ruin my day! I'm excited for the weekend ~ Princess will be staying all night tonight with us & then tomorrow I'm hoping to take the kiddos to the local Applefest or a pumpkin show (I can't decide! lol).  They are calling for a chance of rain but maybe we'll get lucky & get to go have some fall fun!

Just a reminder ~ my giveaway ends this Sunday ~ I'll be drawing a name for the bowl & all the fixins & bowl fillers, so if you haven't signed up ~ whatcha waitin on?!?! lol

Okay now for my newest obsession ~ FALL decorating~ I have another picture to share with you.  Last weekend I kept seeing these ghosts everywhere I went ~ Country Living Fair, a local craft store ~ but they wanted between $45-$60 for one! Holy Cow! I was soooo not paying that price so I decided to make me one instead. In the end it cost me about $5 which was for the cheesecloth & really probably wasn't that much because I used some cheesecloth for my mummy earlier in the week.
 Anyways ~ here's the pic:

I LOVE how he turned out! I'm getting ready to make my aunt one today ~ she wanted one @ Country Living this weekend too.  It was so super easy to make!

That should be the last Fall decorating pictures for this week ~ I want to put up our scarecrows & decorate outside but yesterday was the only day it didn't rain & I couldn't get the stuff out of the top of the garage without the hubby's help & he wasn't home, SO if it dries out next week I plan on working on that.  Until then here's my next project:

I've been debating on whether I should paint this cabinet for awhile now & finally this morning I decided "why not?" .  So as of now it is totally torn apart in my kitchen waiting for some new paint! :O) It holds our canned foods so my kitchen looks like there was an explosion or something! lol I guess I better get back to it so maybe it'll be done before the hubby gets home. :O)

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend! I'll be back on Sunday!

A few redos finally

Hi!! I actually have a few re-dos I wanted to stop in & show you.  It's been so long since I've actually finished something ~ I'm pretty amused! (I know -I'm a big dork!! lol)

before (the lil tool box cubby & the little candle/cubby) :

after:

not sure what I'm going to put in this yet

The next redo I can't find the "before" but it was just plain wood

after

I have one more "in the works" - it's a neat big bowl that is missing one of the round feet it sits on & I've got to get another one to replace it ~ so maybe next week I'll have it to share.

Hope everyone has a great Friday! Princess will be over tomorrow to have a "pool party" with Code ~ so you know what I'll be doing most of the day!! ;O)

Kung Fu~Flowers~Redos

Hi!! I hope everyone has been enjoying their week ~ mine has been pretty good here. I took the kids to see Kung Fu Panda 2 at the little community theatre here in town yesterday (it was only $8 for all 3 of us to get in!! whoo hoo!). It was really cute! If anyone has little ones & you haven't went to see this movie ~ you should! We all really liked it!

Other than that, not a whole lot of anything has been happening around here. Still being lazy & enjoying the summer vacation time with my son.  The hubby is still not smoking! Whoo hoo! It's been a week & he's done really good so far ~ I'm very proud of him! This weekend is our "kid-free" weekend again & he has asked me to go "night" fishing with him! I was shocked! He never asks me so of course I said yes!! I'm sure I'll be bored out of my mind in about an hour or two but at least he wanted me to go! :O) Makes me feel all special!! LOL
I got two redos done this week ~
the pics aren't the greatest ~ but they both are just black. I like them a lot more now ~ I almost left the long candle holder how it was but I have a lot of wood paneling in my house & it was all the SAME shade of it so it got painted

I'm going to try to work on a few more redos this weekend~ still not feeling much like painting anything. Kinda in a funk ~ I feel like a need a "change". Do you ever get like that?!? I seem to get like that at least once every 6 months or so & I don't know why. I think I've got some gypsy blood in me or something! lol Sometimes it's as simple as a new haircut to cure me ~ sometimes it's more than that, so we'll just have to wait & see. Hopefully I'll figure it out soon :O)!

Anyways!!
Here's a few pics of some flowers in my yard
my black eyed susans are just starting to bloom
bee-baum -it's really cool looking - I tried to get a good close up but they were all blurry -this was the best I could do
my purple cone flowers are blooming too! these are my favorites! I just LOVE them!
this lil flower is entwined in with my purple cone flowers ~ I wondered where it had gone ~ my mom had given me some in the fall & I never can remember where I plant anything so I must've planted it where my purple cone flowers were ~ oh well! I'll try to move it this fall :)

Well that's all I've got today. Hopefully next week I'll have more to share! I hope everyone has a great weekend! Stay safe & do something F-U-N!!

*** I'm in LOVE ***

Happy Wednesday!! I wanted to show off my new cabinet that I just finished "priming" up...as the title of my post stats I'm in LOVE with this cabinet now!! I found it last week sitting on the curb and thought I would pick it up. From afar it looked to be an old wooden cabinet that already had some primitive-ness to it...but when I unloaded it from the trunk I realized it was not old at all! Matter a fact the sticker saying "made in china" was still on the back of it! I was slightly disappointed but decided to try to "prim" it up anyways. I started with a coat of black paint then I put on a top coat of "cracker blitz" (leftover from painting my living room) -the color was a light yellowish/tan color. Next I put on a layer of dark walnut stain - I tried wiping some of the stain off but I didn't care for it, so I reapplied some more stain and let that sit. I have read on other blogs to let your stain sit for 48-72 hours as it will still be sticky, but I'm impatient to say the least, so I took it outside and let it sit in the full sunshine of our almost 80 degree day and it seems to be dry now! :) Here are some before and after pics....as I said I'm in love with it now...now where to put it is another question ....

I almost forgot - I got a little wooden shelf last weekend at a local rummage sale for $1 and I finished "priming" it up today too.... I did the same thing with the shelf as I did with the cabinet.

I've been looking at all the furniture in my house the past week or so and dreaming of what it might look like "primmed" up...we'll see what falls victim to me next week! :)
