Another Set of Victims

Well it's finally stopped raining in my neck of Ohio, at least for now! The yard is soaked & muddy...the kids (my son & my niece I babysit) are dying to go out & play and I'm almost tempted to let them go, but we'll have to see. Not sure I'm ready for 2 mud monsters to be in my house, especially since I finally cleaned today! lol

I wanted to show off my latest victims of my paint brush! My hubby started a new 2nd shift job last night and I was bored and it was raining...look I'm trying to rationalize me painting something else!! lol

Anyways my dad made me the little cabinet for me year before last @ Christmas. It's a trash can bin and we actually save our pop cans in it to recycle. And the little step stool I found at a yard sale a few weeks ago.  It's the perfect size for my niece to reach the bathroom sink.Anyways here's the before and after pics. I think they turned out pretty good myself! :)

Well I am being attacked by the kiddos, so I better get off here & defend myself! Hope everyone has a great night!

Cheap should be my middle name!

Well it's been a rainy, dreary week here in Ohio. Today it's finally a little sunny out but it's supposed to rain after while! :( I've been busy trying to get some stuff painted to try to sell @ the local flea market on Sunday. I hope I can sell a few things, I've really got a pile of stuff started and I think the husband is starting to think I'm crazy! LOL

Last night I decided I wanted to check ebay & etsy for a primitive soap dispenser for my bathroom. My bathroom is the least prim part of the house & I'm trying to change that...Anyways I got online & checked both websites and was shocked at the price for a soap dispenser!! The cheapest one was like $15 by the time I paid shipping!!! I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much for a soap dispenser! I'm just too darn cheap! So I decided I was going to "grubby" up my dollar store soap bottle. I forgot to take a before picture but it was just a plastic Jergens soap bottle I got for a $1. I got out the Mod Podge, cinnamon, and some coffee and got to work!  When it was dry this morning I painted a black star on it.  Here's how it turned out - I LOVE it now!

My poor hubby about died when I told him I "grubbied" it up! He says I have a problem with painting everything black and making stuff "grubby" :) but he humors me and tells me it looks good! Gotta to love him for that!

Here's 2 more things I've painted this week.  They both were 50cents each at a yard sale last weekend.  I don't have before pics but both were just plain wood color before I got a hold of them :)

I think I'm going to try to sell both of these on Sunday.

Well I've rambled on long enough. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

It's was a BEAUTIFUL day in the neighborhood....

Hello! Just as the title said -It was a beautiful day today in my neighborhood! It was in the high 70s and absolutely gorgeous!! That is until about 15 minutes ago when a big ol' storm came passing thru! But that's ok, our new vegetable garden and all my flowers sure needed a good drink! Hope everyone is enjoying their week....here's a few pics from around the yard ....

Happy Thursday!! This week has gone by pretty fast ... I haven't accomplished nearly as much as I wanted to but today I got a few things done in the yard. I've had so many ideas floating around in my head, some days it's hard to sleep at night! Here's a few pics of my front yard...it needs mowed (hubby says he'll do it 2morrow!) and I still need mulch and to hang up my window boxes, but so far all my "junk" I've been finding is looking pretty good in my flower beds I think.

After I took these pics I consulted my mother -via email- & she suggested I switch the birdhouse to the other side so I'm going to try that & see how it looks. The little green door I got out of the trash and the crusty chair and birdhouse were my grandmothers. I don't know if you can see it or not but there is a post with a watering can in the corner by the chair. I got the post for $1 (gasp I know!!) @ a yard sale and the watering can was another trash find. I'm hoping the hubby will get me some mulch for mothers day & it will all come together.....
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

*** I'm in LOVE ***

Happy Wednesday!! I wanted to show off my new cabinet that I just finished "priming" up...as the title of my post stats I'm in LOVE with this cabinet now!! I found it last week sitting on the curb and thought I would pick it up. From afar it looked to be an old wooden cabinet that already had some primitive-ness to it...but when I unloaded it from the trunk I realized it was not old at all! Matter a fact the sticker saying "made in china" was still on the back of it! I was slightly disappointed but decided to try to "prim" it up anyways. I started with a coat of black paint then I put on a top coat of "cracker blitz" (leftover from painting my living room) -the color was a light yellowish/tan color. Next I put on a layer of dark walnut stain - I tried wiping some of the stain off but I didn't care for it, so I reapplied some more stain and let that sit. I have read on other blogs to let your stain sit for 48-72 hours as it will still be sticky, but I'm impatient to say the least, so I took it outside and let it sit in the full sunshine of our almost 80 degree day and it seems to be dry now! :) Here are some before and after pics....as I said I'm in love with it now...now where to put it is another question ....

I almost forgot - I got a little wooden shelf last weekend at a local rummage sale for $1 and I finished "priming" it up today too.... I did the same thing with the shelf as I did with the cabinet.

I've been looking at all the furniture in my house the past week or so and dreaming of what it might look like "primmed" up...we'll see what falls victim to me next week! :)

Happy Monday! I've been busy working in my yard off & on for the past week. I finally finished placing round rocks around my flower beds & must say I absolutely LOVE them! It took 3 trips to my mom & sisters house to scavenge through their rock piles, but I am finally done! I have another project that I just finished tonight. It is a cute little corner cupboard/shelf I got for Christmas a couple of years back. I really liked the cabinet as it originally was but I felt like it needed something "more" to fit into my house...so I painted it! My mother (who gave it to me) might not be too amused by that fact, but it's too late now. It's a lovely shade of black -coal black to be exact-and I think it turned out great! I can't wait to find some "goodies" to put in it. Here's the before & after....

I am looking forward to another week of garden work & hopefully a new bargain!! I'll try to take some pics of the yard & post them. I'm trying to go for a "country/cottage" garden ...we'll see.

Trash to Treasure Projects

I am still totally obsessed with my yard & finding something I can turn into a primitive "goodie" for my house. Althought it snowed 2 days ago here in Ohio I managed to find an inside yard sale today @ a local American Legion. I was very amused that I found a couple more "projects" .... Here they are...

(As you can tell I haven't quite figured out this blogging thing yet but I'm working on it :) )

I think they turned out pretty primitive-ish. I just put a coat of coal black on them & then lightly sanded them after they were dry. For $2.50 I have two new things to add to my house. I might try to find some berries or something to put in them, but I'm not sure where to find them cheap...and cheap is what I need them to be!
Well that's all I have for today... hope this week is warmer than the last couple of days so I can get back in the yard. I'll keep posting my "goodies" as I find them. Happy treasure hunting!!
